The Princeton Review LSAT Prep Course Review

 April 19, 2024

By  Chuky Ofoegbu

To help you make the best purchasing decision, this article will give you an unbiased review of the Princeton Review's new LSAT prep course lineup.

All based on our first-hand experience using their instructor-led LSAT 165+ live online course over several weeks.

Main Features & Course Lineup

The test prep giant The Princeton Review is one of the few companies that offers LSAT prep programs in a variety of formats available both online and in-person - depending on your location, of course.

These include an intensive boot camp style program called the LSAT Immersion 165+, two small group live class programs led by instructors named the LSAT 165+ course and the LSAT Fundamentals Course.

And a self-paced package with a one-year access period for those who want to learn independently.

All instructor-led packages include one year of access to an online tool where you can find past recordings of your classes, the LSAT practice material, and other learning resources.

Video Review

You can watch our in-depth video review for a behind-the-scenes peek into the Princeton Review LSAT prep course platform.

In this video, our reviewer Chuky dives deeper into the performance of the Princeton Review LSAT prep course from our first-hand experience using their instructor-led course.

How the Princeton Review's LSAT courses differ?

As you can expect, the self-paced course allows you to study as you wish without a schedule constraint.

The new LSAT 165+ LiveOnline program offers 65 hours of focused live instruction and boasts a 165+ LSAT score or a +7 points score increase guarantee.

The LSAT Fundamentals course is a stripped-down version of their LSAT 165+ LSAT course with 30 hours of live instruction at 2.5 hours per session.

This LSAT Fundamentals course is sold with a weaker score increase guarantee, albeit cheaper.

The LSAT Immersion 165+ program builds upon the LSAT 165+ LiveOnline course with 130 hours of live classroom instruction compressed into a 6-week period, which is very intense.

And it usually has the most limited seats available, unlike other programs offered year-round.

Lesson Quality

First, It's important to point out that The Princeton Review has updated its entire LSAT lesson content for the new version of the LSAT taking effect in August 2024.

Where the analytical reasoning, also known as the Logic Games section, is replaced with another Logical reasoning section.

Across all their instructor-led LSAT programs, students can access an on-demand video lesson library.

With over 150+ hours of recorded content and short activities related to the topic within the lesson.

So, you can start watching these on-demand video lessons before your live classes begin.

As for the live classes, my live courses were very interactive. I liked that attendees were allowed to turn on their cameras and speak up instead of being restricted to communicating via chat.

Each live class was kept relatively small, with a peak headcount of 35 students. I was confident in the teacher leading the class, as she was not only knowledgeable about the core LSAT concepts but was also a veteran LSAT test taker.

It's also good to know that a lot of time spent during the live class will be dedicated to solving official LSAC exam practice questions related to the topic in the class.

Support Quality

In terms of student support, with the wide range of LSAT prep products, there is bound to be a program that fits the needs of every type of student.

The LSAT 165+ immersion package with additional hours of instruction suits those who need the most personalized attention from an expert LSAT instructor.

It also comes with exclusive content workshops and an expert instructor's in-depth analysis of your LSAT practice test scores.

While the LSAT Fundamental and the LSAT 165+ packages cater to students who prefer to prep in groups with direct access to an instructor beyond what's typical in a self-paced course.

One thing I didn’t like in this area is that the Princeton Review does not provide ample information on their website about the instructor's qualifications in their instructor-led LSAT courses.

Neither do they mention anything about the LSAT scores their instructors have received in recent years.

This information is important in bolstering your confidence as a prospective buyer of their LSAT prep programs.

Pricing

At the time of this review, The Princeton Review's standalone self-paced LSAT course with 12 months of access starts at $800.

The pricing of their popular LSAT 165+ LiveOnline course, which includes 65 hours of instruction, starts at $2100, equivalent to $32/hr.

While their more premium LSAT 165+ Immersion program with 130 hours of live instruction starts at 4,000, equivalent to $31/hr of instruction.

But to help students afford their products, The Princeton Review offers payment plans on all their instructor-led LSAT prep packages with no extra charges or credit checks.

If you want to score a discount on any of The Princeton Review's LSAT courses, you can use our code SOJOURNING15 for 15% off at checkout.

Practice Material Quality

In terms of practice material quality, it's good to know that The Princeton Review licenses official LSAT questions from the LSAC, the makers of the LSAT exam.

Students signed up to any of the Princeton Review's courses will receive access to ALL Official LSAT PrepTests using the LSAC LawHub Advantage platform.

These practice test questions are supported with detailed text-based answer explanations.

As the LSAC updates the practice tests on the LawHub advantage platform, they will also be updated on The Princeton Review LSAT platform.

So you can be confident that you'll practice exclusively with LSAT questions that are very similar to what you'll see when you take the actual LSAT exam.

One of the downsides to the practice material was the need for video-based answer explanations. Which is very helpful, especially for those who are visual learners.

Note that students must take an official LSAT practice test as a qualifying exam before their first class day.

As this exam establishes your baseline score - essential for those who have yet to take an official LSAT exam - and want to pursue the Princeton Review's score-improvement guarantee promise.

Beyond that, students must complete six official LSAT practice tests during their studies.

A purchase of The Princeton Review's instructor-led LSAT courses comes with physical copies of their 4 LSAT prep books.

Each containing even more practice questions to attempt during your study.

Customer Policies

The Princeton Review promises a +7 score increase guarantee or your money back on its LSAT 165+ LiveOnline course and Immersion program.

Which is one of the highest score guarantee promises on the market. All other programs promise that you will score higher on the LSAT, but by no specific amount.

In addition, money-back refunds on self-paced courses are granted to those who cancel their course within the first seven days after enrollment.

For their instructor-led class packages, full refunds are provided for cancellations made within seven days after enrollment but before the first live class begins.

What Other Buyers Are Saying

At the time of this review, the Princeton Review brand has about 2,000 reviews on Trustpilot with an overall rating of 4.3 out of 5 stars. Where 404 of these are verified reviews.

But more important is the number of reviews relating to their LSAT product, which was 162.

Out of those 260 LSAT-focused reviews, 24 were verified, with an average rating of 4.75 out of 5 stars.
